A Practical Apartment Handover Checklist for Dubai Homeowners

Make handover easier to follow with a room-by-room inspection record, clear questions and a separate move-in plan, from checking finishes to collecting operating guides.

Receiving the keys is a memorable moment. A little preparation helps you enjoy it while keeping track of the details that will matter once the apartment becomes your everyday home.

Partner coverage published by Gulf News on 16 April 2026, featured in our press collection, reported the handovers of Vista and The Residence. With delivery in focus, here is a practical way to organise your own appointment.

Prepare a room-by-room checklist

Bring the relevant unit plan, specification and appointment instructions. Organise your notes by room, leaving space for photographs and follow-up items. A consistent route through the apartment helps you avoid checking one area repeatedly while missing another.

Confirm with the handover team how observations should be recorded and whether a professional inspector may attend. A visual checklist is useful preparation, but specialist inspections require the appropriate expertise and access arrangements.

Check the things you will touch every day

With the team’s permission, open accessible doors, drawers and wardrobes and check that they operate comfortably. Look at visible finishes, fittings and sealant lines. Observe whether the delivered items correspond with the agreed specification.

Ask the team to demonstrate controls and installed equipment rather than trying unfamiliar settings yourself. Do not remove electrical covers or access restricted areas. If something needs explanation, record the question alongside the location.

Make each observation easy to find

Use a wide photograph to show the room and a closer image for the detail. Describe the issue precisely: the room, the fitting and what you observed. A note such as “bedroom wardrobe, left door catches when closing” is easier to follow than “wardrobe problem”.

Ask how each item will be tracked, who will respond and how a follow-up visit is arranged. Retain a copy of the submitted record and any written responses so the next conversation starts from the same information.

Collect the information that comes with the keys

Request available operating guides, warranty information, access instructions and the relevant building-management contacts. Ask about parking access, deliveries and the process for reporting a maintenance concern. Keep these details somewhere everyone in the household can find.

Vista in Dubai Sports City and The Residence in JVC offer project context. The appointment and documents for your own unit should guide your handover process.
