DP World’s New Research Puts Supply-Chain Resilience Ahead of Cost Cutting

DP World’s 2026 research shows supply-chain leaders prioritising resilience, supplier choice and alternative routes ahead of cost reduction alone.

Supply-chain leaders are placing greater importance on flexibility and choice as businesses respond to changing trade conditions.

According to research published by DP World on 5 October 2026, 84% of surveyed Chief Supply Chain Officers said resilience and optionality had overtaken cost reduction as the main drivers of supply-chain strategy.

What the 2026 Survey Found

The findings come from DP World’s 2026 Chief Supply Chain Officer Pulse Report. The research was based on a survey conducted in August among 103 supply-chain leaders across 14 markets and nine industries.

More Supplier Choice

The report found that 71% of respondents planned to diversify their supplier base over the following 12 months. Companies were also considering changes to inventory, production locations and sourcing arrangements as they looked for more flexibility.

Alternative Transport Routes

86% of respondents said access to alternative and multimodal trade routes was becoming a competitive advantage. Multimodal routes use more than one form of transport, which may include road, rail, sea or air.

From the Lowest Cost to More Operating Options

What Optionality Means

Optionality means having practical alternatives available when conditions change. This can include working with more than one supplier, using different transport routes or adjusting where goods are stored and produced.

The research suggests that supply-chain decisions are no longer focused only on finding the lowest-cost option. Businesses are also considering whether their networks can continue operating when trade rules, demand, tariffs or wider conditions change.

Digital integration, better visibility and lower-carbon supply chains were also identified as important capabilities for future growth.

Why the Operating Network Matters to Business Locations

For businesses, these findings highlight the value of looking at the complete operating network. Supplier access, transport options, customers, infrastructure and the ability to use alternative routes can all form part of a business-location decision.

Consider Each Property on Its Own Merits

The survey should not be treated as a forecast for Dubai’s property market. It does not prove that logistics trends will automatically increase demand for commercial property or raise prices in any particular location.

When exploring residential or commercial opportunities, each address should be considered according to its purpose, location and official information. The Prestige One Projects page introduces the company’s developments across different Dubai destinations.

DP World’s research reflects a wider shift from building supply chains around cost alone to creating networks with more choice. For business leaders, resilience increasingly means being prepared with more than one supplier, route or operating option.
